Introduction To Lesson Two

     The purpose of our first course, the Prayer Force One Leadership Training Course, is to present the goals, beliefs and organizational structure of Prayer Force One so that participants can work together with a common understanding and commitment. This second lesson seeks to present and defend the Christian heritage which has made our nation great and the singular necessity of prayer as the most powerful weapons in the battle to restore our faltering nation.

The Battle For The Soul Of Our Nation

A Transitional Commentary

     Several years ago I wrote the following commentary which has since been reproduced in a number of Christian publications across America. We include it below to serve as a kind of summary and review of lesson one as well as a transitional introduction to lesson two.

America: A Rendezvous With Which Destiny?

     In his famous 1964 “A Time To Choose” speech, the speech that put him on the national political stage, Ronald Reagan said of America, “You and I have a rendezvous with destiny.” However, Reagan went on to say that this destiny would be determined by a path-choice that Americans themselves would make. As he ended his speech, Reagan framed that choice by saying, “We can preserve for our children this the last best hope for man on earth, or we can sentence them to take the first step into a thousand years of darkness.”

     President Ronald Reagan’s belief, that America’s rendezvous with destiny involved a choice, never varied. In 1980, my wife and I sat on the capitol grass as we personally heard Ronald Reagan reaffirm this view during his First Inaugural Address. In this address he made the following declaration: “I do not believe in a fate that will fall on us no matter what we do. I do believe in a fate that will fall on us if we do nothing.” Please note the two choices. As we write, we take note that this year marks the fiftieth anniversary of that historic speech.      Today, America is again at the crossroads of her rendezvous with destiny. The question is whether Americans understand that two paths lie before us, and whether American Christians will rise up to lead our nation in making the right decision. The hour is critical, and the hour is very, very late.

     President Woodrow Wilson stated, “America was born a Christian nation.” Today’s president is saying, “America is no longer a Christian nation.” Who is right, and which path we choose will not be determined by our history or by any president. The path that lies before us will be determined by the collective choice of the American people themselves. Not all will choose the right path, but make no mistake; a consensus will be reached. This and this alone will determine America’s rendezvous with destiny.

     If America is to survive, we as Christians must choose to contend for the soul of our nation. The challenge for American Christians is whether or not we will own up to this God-given responsibility. The real question thus becomes: “Will Christians do their duty?”

     The Bible is replete with verses that send forth God’s call for us to act on His behalf. In fact, the Bible actually tells us why nations are destroyed. Jeremiah 12:11 says: The whole land is made desolate because no man layeth it to heart.” According to Jeremiah, the reason nations perish is because no one is determined to make a difference. In other words, we perish by default. We perish because we choose not to contend for the soul of our nation. This is an abdication of our God-given responsibility and both heaven and our children will rise up to judge us for such selfish complacency.

     Surely, this is what God meant when he said, “I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.” (Ezekiel 22:30) While the hope of our nation lies in God alone, the choice remains ours alone. Christians must not sit idly by while the wicked take over our country. To do so would be an unforgivable dereliction of duty!

"Must I be carried to the skies,
On flowery beds of ease;
While others fought to win the prize,
And sailed through bloody seas?
No, I must fight if I should win,
Increase my courage Lord,
I’ll bear the toil, endure the pain,
Supported by Thy Word."

     To my fellow pastors and Christians everywhere I say, “Rise up O men of God!” for, ”Now is the time for all good men, (and women) to come to the aid of their country!”

     I conclude this commentary as I began; with a solemn quote by President Ronald Reagan. In an address before the National Association of Evangelicals on March 8, 1983, he cautioned Americans with these words:

     “There is sin and evil in the world, and we are enjoined by Scripture and the Lord Jesus to oppose it with all our might. I urge you to beware the temptation of pride, the temptation of blithely declaring yourselves above it all and thereby removing yourself from the struggle between right and wrong and good and evil.”

     Christian Americans need to again hear and heed this presidential warning. The truth is that only one destiny lies before us; but which destiny it will be, has been placed by God himself into America’s own two hands! Yes, America still has a rendezvous with destiny. The real question is this... “Which destiny will it be?”


A Transitional Review

     In Lesson One, we studied, in effect, the Biblical importance of nationhood as it relates to personal responsibility in the hour in which we live. We studied why Satan hates nationhood just as surely as he hates families and individuals alike. We saw how Satan’s endless pursuit to establish global governance is a matter of personal survival in his war against God and the Gospel. Lastly, we examined why Satan hates America in particular and why we, as Christians, are obligated to defend and restore America’s Biblical foundations. Unless, and until these spiritual truths are fully understood, there is no reason to move forward in this study. Are you ready for Lesson Two?

Then Understand This:
“Christ came not only to save souls,
but to save nations as well!”

     The above statement may seem brazenly incomprehensible to many Christians; especially to Christians of today who have already checked-out where their Christian duties as citizens are concerned. Most Christians readily understand that Christ came to save souls. After all, this is the very essence of the gospel. Did not Christ himself declare: “For the Son of Man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.”? (Luke 19:10) And did not the great Apostle Paul clearly state: “This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.”? (I Timothy 1:15)

     Yet, while these verses are true, and should be embraced by all genuine believers, it is equally true that Christ came to bless and save nations. Let us not forget how God promised Abraham that this gospel blessing was for all the nations of the earth. In Galatians 3:7-8 we read: “Know ye therefore that they that are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham. And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.”

     We again see this promise expressed in Isaiah 4:2 where we read: “The LORD liveth, in truth, in judgement, and in righteousness; and the nations shall bless themselves in Him, and in Him shall they glory.” We believe that America, above all other nations, has been historically blessed in this regard. “America, America, God shed His grace on thee!” May we as Christians seek to preserve this blessing for our children!

     We must also remember that Christ’s culminating work on this earth will be to heal the nations. In Revelation 22:1-2 an angel describes a future scene from Christ’s coming earthly kingdom. “And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruit, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.”

     When this prophecy is fulfilled, then and then only will The Lord’s Prayer be fulfilled when he prayed, “Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” From these and many other scriptures it is clear that the end result of Christ’s redemptive work is not only for the salvation and healing of lost souls, but the healing and restoration of the nations of the earth as well.

America Serves As A Shining Example
That God Indeed Desires To Blesses Nations Even Now

     While America is not the only nation to experience the blessings of Gospel favor, we have surely been a testimony and example to the world that God does indeed bless nations in this present dispensation. This truth is self evident and undeniable proofs can readily be seen by simply quoting our nation’s presidents.

     In his First Inaugural address President George Washington made this fact perfectly clear when he said, “No people can be bound to acknowledge and adore the Invisible Hand which conducts the affairs of men more than those of the United States. Every step by which they have advanced to the character of an independent nation, seems to have been distinguished by some token of Providential agency.”

     President John Quincy Adams also made this abundantly clear when he declared, “The Highest glory of the American Revolution was this; that it connected in one indissoluble bond, the principles of self-government with the principles of Christianity.”

     President Theodore Roosevelt reaffirmed this truth when he stated, “Every thinking man, when he thinks, realizes that the teachings of the Bible are so interwoven and intertwined with our whole civic and social life that it would be literally, I do not mean figuratively, but literally impossible for us to figure what the loss would be if these teachings were removed. We would lose all the standards by which we now judge both public and private morals; all the standards toward which we, with more or less resolution, strive to raise ourselves.”

     Again, as we have quoted before, President Woodrow Wilson defended this reality when stated, “America was born a Christian nation. America was born to exemplify that devotion to the elements of righteousness, which are derived from Holy Scripture.”

     President Calvin Coolidge affirmed this as well when he stated, “The foundations of our society and our government rest so much on the teachings of the Bible, that it would be difficult to support them if faith in these teachings would cease to be practically universal in our country.” He went on to say, “If American democracy is to remain the greatest hope of humanity, it must continue abundantly in the faith of the Bible.”

     President Franklin Delano Roosevelt concurred in this conviction when he said, “’Peace on earth, good will toward men’ - democracy must cling to that message. For it is my deep conviction that democracy cannot live without that true religion which gives a nation a sense of justice and moral purpose.”

     Likewise, President Harry S. Truman referred to this blessing, and added a warning when he said, “The basis of our American Bill of Rights comes from the teachings of we get from Exodus and St. Matthew, from Isaiah and St. Paul. I don’t think we emphasize that enough these days. If we don’t have a proper fundamental moral background, we will finally end up with a government that does not believe in rights for anybody but the state!”

     President Dwight D. Eisenhower summed all of this up when he said: "Without God, there could be no American form of government, nor an American way of life. Recognition of the Supreme Being is the first, the most basic expression of Americanism."

     As the Supreme Commander of all allied forces during WW-II, Eisenhower understood that that the foundations of freedom had to be protected by strength. Eisenhower emphatically stated: "History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid."

     "IKE" also clearly understood that our nation could not remain the inspiration and guardian of the virtues of freedom if we lost our own. Again he stated: "Whatever America hopes to bring to pass in the world, must first come to pass in the heart of America."

U.S. Courts Have Historically
Upheld These Truths

     In legal terms, an established “precedent” where court rulings are concerned, is a decision that has been made and then grows stronger as it withstands legal challenges over the ensuing years. Over time, these precedents have a trickling down effect, becoming the basis for all future decisions and so on.

     In the first 400 years of American history on this continent, literally no one questioned the validity of Christian morality or the Bible as the basis for the laws of our land. In 1892, The United States Supreme Court acknowledged this fact stating: “Because of a general recognition of this truth, the question has seldom been presented to the courts.”

     However, when challenges to the status quo did come, case law universally supported the precedent of protecting religion and its influence within the public domain.

     While it is impossible to present the volume of overwhelming evidence in a single lesson, allow me to quote from a landmark Supreme Court opinion that faithfully reflects the unanimous state of American legal opinion for the entirety of our nation’s history.

The U. S. Supreme Court
Affirmed Our Christian Heritage

     In the 1892 case of Church of the Holy Trinity v. United States, the matter of our nation’s Christian heritage was meticulously documented and reaffirmed by the high court. In my opinion, this is one of the grandest opinions ever articulated by the United States Supreme Court. In handing down the decision, the Court undergirded its opinion by affirming the historically established practice of basing America’s moral laws on Biblical, Christian principles.

     In consideration of time and space, I will quote excerpts from the sixteen-page opinion along with running commentary that faithfully summarizes the gaps. The Court said:

     “This is a religious people. This is historically true. From the discovery of this continent, to this present hour, there is a single voice making this affirmation.”

     The opinion then quotes from the commission to Columbus; from the first colonial grant to Sir Walter Raleigh, 1584; from the first charter of Virginia, 1606 and subsequent charters of 1609 and 1611; from the Mayflower Compact, 1620; from the fundamental orders of Connecticut, 1638; and from the charter issued by William Penn to the province of Pennsylvania, 1701. Each and all of these were legal and binding originating documents that invoked the name of God and the Christian faith as part of their authorization.

     The Supreme Court opinion then progresses to the time of our nation’s founding days stating:

     “Coming nearer to the present time, the Declaration of Independence recognizes the presence of the Divine in human affairs in these words,

‘We hold these truths to be self evident,
that all men are created equal,
that they are endowed by their Creator
with certain unalienable rights. . . ‘,

‘. . . appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world
for the rectitude of our intentions. . . ‘

‘And for the support of this declaration,
and with firm reliance on the protection
of Divine Providence. . .’

     The opinion then goes on citing example after example, quoting from the state constitutions of the 44 states then in the Union. (You may click on the photo below to read from the Constitutions of the fifty states of our nation.)

     The opinion then concludes:

     “There is no dissonance in these declarations. There is a universal language pervading them all, having one meaning; they affirm and reaffirm that this is a religious nation. These are not individual sayings, declarations of private persons; they are organic utterances; they speak the voice of the entire people.”

     The word “organic,” when used in the legal sense, means that the thing referred to is derived from official bodies representing official policy. This is important. The U. S. Supreme Court then quotes two previous decisions by the Supreme Courts of Pennsylvania and New York respectively, and then refers to a previous decision by the Supreme Court made some 48 years earlier. We continue quoting:

     “We find that in ‘Updegraph v. The Commonwealth’, [1824] it was decided that, ‘Christianity, general Christianity, is, and always has been, a part of common law. . . not Christianity with an established church. . . but Christianity with liberty of conscience to all men.’

     And in ‘The People v. Ruggles’, [1811] Chancellor Kent, the great commentator on American law, speaking as Chief Justice of the state of New York, said: ‘The people of this state, in common with the people of this country, profess the general doctrines of Christianity, as the rule of their faith and practice. . . We are a Christian people, and the morality of the country is deeply engrafted upon Christianity, and not upon the doctrines or worship of imposters.’

     And in the famous [1844, U.S. Supreme Court] case of ‘Vidal v. Girard’s Executors’, this court observed:

     ‘These and many other matters which might be noticed, add to the volume of unofficial declarations to the mass of organic utterances that this is a Christian nation.’”

     Thus, by this ruling, the United States Supreme Court rightfully confirmed 400 years of undeniable evidence that the United States was, and always had been a Christian nation, and that its laws were based upon Christian common law. This is how things stood with the courts deep into the middle of the twentieth century.

Both Houses Of Congress Also Historically
Affirmed Our Christian Heritage

     When the challenges of the ungodly did finally begin to occur, the courts consistently ruled against these secularist challenges, while both houses of Congress passed judgement on the larger question of whether or not the United States was indeed a Christian nation.

     In the mid 1850’s, having failed in the courts, the opponents of religion in America petitioned Congress to remove Chaplains from the halls of Congress and from the military. Both the House and Senate considered the matter and both issued statements. On January 19,1853 the Committee in the House of Representatives issued its recommendation stating:

     We are a Christian people. . . and in a land thus universally Christian, what is to be expected, what desired, but that we shall pay a due regard to Christianity?”

     In addressing the meaning of the first amendment, which prohibits Congress from acting in the “establishment of religion, nor prohibiting the free exercise thereof. . . “ The report continued:

     “The whole view of the petitioners seems founded upon mistaken conceptions of the meaning of the Constitution. . . They [our Forefathers] intended, by this amendment, to prohibit ‘an established of religion’ such as the English Church presented, or anything like it. But, they had no fear or jealousy of religion itself, nor did they wish to see us an irreligious people. . . They did not intend to spread over all the public authorities and the whole public action of the nation the dead and revolting spectacle of atheistic apathy.

     A little over a year later, on March 27, the Senate Committee on the Judiciary also issued its conclusion stating:

     Had the people, during the Revolution, had a suspicion of any attempt to war against Christianity, that Revolution would have been strangled in its cradle.”


     The Senate report went on to state:

     ”It [Christianity] must be considered the foundation on which the whole structure rests. Laws will not have permanence or power without the sanction of religious sentiment, without a firm belief that there is a power above us that will reward our virtues and punish our vices. In this age, there can be no substitute for Christianity; that, in its general principles, is the great conservative element in which we must rely for purity and permanence of free institutions. That was the religion of the founders of the republic, and they expected it to remain the religion of their descendants.”

     It is this established and officially affirmed conviction that was earlier expressed so eloquently by our second president, John Adams, who was both a signer of the Declaration of Independence, and a member of both the First and Second Continental Congresses. He said:

     “While our county remains untainted with the principles and manners which are now producing desolation in so many parts of the world: ...we shall have the strongest reason to rejoice in the (present) destination assigned us by Providence. BUT, should the people of America once become capable of assuming the language of justice and moderation, while it is practicing iniquity and extravagance... this county will be the most miserable habitation in the world, because we have no government armed with the power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. (Such vices would soon) break the strongest cords of our Constitution as a whale goes through a net. OUR CONSTITUTION WAS MADE FOR A MORAL AND RELIGIOUS PEOPLE. IT IS WHOLLY INADEQUATE FOR ANY OTHER.”

Why These Truths Are So Important

     The reason that we must integrate these historical utterances into this lesson is because they constitute the bedrock foundations of our nation. These are the foundations that both prove and undergird the fact that America was indeed born a Christian nation. They are vitally important because these foundations are now being attacked, eroded and supplanted by those who embrace a twisted, satanic, globalistic agenda.

     We as a people must restore these foundations of our nation. It is this for which we now contend. We must heed and respond to the Biblical interrogative which asks: “If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?” (Psalm 11:3) If America is to be saved, it is absolutely essential to understand that it is the Biblical, Christian foundations that must be restored. No compromise will suffice.

Today’s Godless Mess

     After reading the foregoing rulings, containing so much evidence about our Christian heritage, you may be asking, Since all of this is true, how did we get into the mess that our country finds itself in today?” The answer is to be found in the lack of vigilance as the ungodly infiltrated our official institutions of justice and set about to systematically unravel and reverse the legal precedents of our nation’s foundational centuries! I will now attempt to briefly describe how this happened and what must be done to correct the situation.

The Great Deception Begins

     The attack on our American heritage started when judges began to abuse the separation of powers as prescribed in the Constitution. Instead of issuing opinions on questions put before it, the court itself began to usurp the powers reserved exclusively to the other two branches of government. Judges have no Constitutional right to legislate by decree, (and rightly so, because they are not directly elected by the people.) Nevertheless, the opportunity for judicial abuse began to appear early on in our nation’s history.

     In the modern context, this abuse of power first exerted itself when the high court denied 150 years of established precedents, to embrace a new nomenclature that was never, ever used in any of our founding documents. We are speaking of the myth promulgated under the non-constitutional phrase, “the separation of church and state”.

    We call this a myth, because none, not one of our founding documents uses this term! It would be more appropriate to call this doctrine “a deception” because its promoters have deceived Americans by implying that this phrase has its roots in the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, or in the mass of our nation’s supporting organic utterances. It does not! In fact the origin of the phrase is from a non-organic (unofficial, personal utterance) of just one man, and even that is taken totally out of context and misused! Instead of safeguarding the church from government intrusion and control, an emerging liberal court arbitrarily redefined the phrase as a new battle cry against religion and morality in America.

All Of Our Christian History
Erased By A Single, One-Vote Margin!

     In 1947, in the case known as Everson v. The Board of Education, the greatest legal hijacking in judicial history took place. In this case, the high court shocked the legal world when it ignored all historic precedent and reinterpreted the First Amendment, (part of the original Bill of Rights), by using the Fourteenth Amendment, (part of package of four post-civil war amendments addressing slavery issues). However, the Fourteenth Amendment was never intended to disannul the First Amendment rights of religious freedom; and before this 1947 ruling, this new and twisted application had never before been made in the entire 77 year history of the Fourteenth Amendment! In short, this implied interpretation was a cheap, dishonest, legal maneuver, worthy only of the slimiest of lawyers!

     In effect, the high court created a new power for itself; a power through which it began reinterpreting the First Amendment contrary to the original intent of our Founding Fathers and 150 years of firmly established court precedents! By using this new and bogus interpretation, even our Founding Fathers were themselves in violation of the very Constitution that they themselves had written. This is insanity! And it all came about by a one-vote margin!

     It was also in this ruling that the high court first used the so-called “wall of separation” phrase. By doing this they began laying the groundwork to silence the one and only institution that government could not control: THE CHURCH! And this was just the beginning!

The Buzzword Trickles Down

     As a result of this power-grabbing, heritage-raping, five to four decision, the liberal legal system went crazy attacking every vestige of Christian influence in the land. The so-called “wall of separation” term became so popular that by 1958 one ruling correctly lamented, ”Much has been written in recent years concerning Thomas Jefferson’s reference in 1802 to ‘a wall of separation between church and state’. . . Jefferson’s figure of speech has received so much attention that one would almost think at times that it is to be found somewhere in our Constitution.” (Baer v. Kolmorgen, 1958)

     The Warren Court, became so rampant and embarrassing in its decisions that President Eisenhower, who had nominated Earl Warren as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, said: “Nominating Warren to the Chief Justice seat was the biggest *@#!!-fool mistake I ever made.” (expletive deleted) Liberals began adoringly referring to Warren as “The Superchief” (after the famous Sante Fe locomotive) because of how much of their agenda he was able to railroad through the Supreme Court. Here are just a few of the infamous decisions that the Warren court handed down.

Prayer and Bible Reading Banned From Public Education

     Having laid the groundwork for this “new precedent,” the humanistic enemies of God were now ready to strike at the very heart of religion in America. Once the trickling down effect was firmly established, they moved with rapid and repetitive fury to ravage the heritage of our nation by accepting cases which could be used as vehicles to make unprecedented new rulings which ignored earlier rulings. Their first and most important goal was to eradicate every form of religious expression from public education

     In the 1962 case of Engel v. Vitale, the high court shocked the nation by declaring prayer in public schools “unconstitutional”. In making this ruling, the court did not cite a single precedent to support its decision. This is because there was not a single historical case that they could use to support it! This decision was quickly followed by the 1963 case of Abington v. Schempp, in which 150 years of Bible reading in public schools was also declared to be “unconstitutional.” America reeled in disbelief under these rulings while the democratically controlled White House and Congress both sat passively by.

Pandora’s Box Is Opened

     After the two-edged sword of these two initial rulings were issued, nothing sacred was spared as godless lawyers at every level initiated lawsuits directed at every form of public religious expression in America. As a result, a Pandora’s box was opened without restraint. Every evil imaginable came pouring into the clean water of our society. Anti-pornography laws were declared a violation of free speech. Abortion was ruled to be the constitutional right of every woman, and today, homosexual marriages are being forced upon our nation through godless court decrees. Enough! All this must stop! It is well past time for God-fearing Americans to stand up against this godless assault.

     The Bible says: “When the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.” (Proverbs 29:2) This verse pretty much sums up what happened under the Warren Court. Perhaps we can now begin to see what the Bible means when it says: "One sinner destroyeth much good!" (Ecclesiastes 9:18) Thus, through this new philosophy of "judicial activism" a small handful of unelected judges have unilaterally usurped and imposed an unconstitutional authority over our elected branches of government, as well as the fifty states.  As a result, these unfettered and unjust rulings have very nearly destroyed the Christian foundations of our nation.

The Verdict Is Coming In

     Concerning these controversial rulings, Earl Warren said, “We may not know the whole story in our lifetime.” This is one of the few things that Warren said that we would agree with. The destructive repercussions of the Warren Court’s actions upon our children and the moral fabric of our nation cannot possibly be assessed. However, as the returns continue to come in, they are becoming increasingly more dismal. Since the Warren Court banned prayer and Bible reading in our public schools, consider the results:

  • Divorce rates have more than doubled.
  • Unwed girls giving birth has increased two and a half times.
  • Sexually transmitted diseases have quadrupled.
  • Violent crime has doubled itself three times over.

     To continue to press the point by adding more facts and figures is unnecessary. Americans have lived through the moral rape of our nation and they can see the score. They know that they have been lied to and hoodwinked. Former Congresswoman, Katherine Harris (R-Florida) has called the separation of church and state “a lie,” and she is not alone. In fact, a recent Pew Forum survey indicates that 67% of all Americans believe that the United States was founded as a Christian nation.

     Everywhere we go, we see people who are hungry for a return to decency. People are also learning that prayer and prayerful action can make a difference. Already over half of our states have rallied to reaffirm that marriage is between one man and one woman. (A national voice that, once again, the liberal court system is trying desperately to undo.) In 2010, the people of Iowa actually removed three rogue Supreme Court judges who ruled the people’s successful marriage initiative as “unconstitutional.” We are finally beginning to discover that “we the people” can indeed fight back!

Remember, We Are Talking About
The Healing Of Our Nation!

     When Ronald Reagan took the oath to become our fortieth President, he, like every other President before him, followed the example of George Washington and laid his hand upon the Bible. President Harry Truman went so far as to actually kiss the sacred book. In Reagan’s case however, he purposely chose to place his hand upon a particular verse of Scripture from his mother’s Bible. That Bible, is pictured below with Prayer Force One’s Executive Vice-President, Barry Blenis, and is now on display at The Ronald Reagan Center in Santa Barbara, California.

     The scripture that Ronald Reagan placed his hand upon was II Chronicles 7:14. Remember that we are talking about the healing of our nation. In the margin beside this verse, Reagan’s mother had written this inscription: A wonderful verse for the healing of the nations.This verse reads as follows:

“If My people, which are called by My name,
shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face,
and turn from their wicked ways;
then will I hear from heaven,
and will forgive their sins,
and will heal their land.”

     Ronald Reagan understood what many Christians in America have lost faith in; namely that God could still heal our wounded land! Even though America’s spiritual foundations were under attack, Reagan still believed that America could be saved if we would but return to God. This is why he warned, “If we ever forget that we are one nation under God, we will be a nation gone under.”

     Earlier, upon accepting the his party’s nomination, Reagan had unequivocally stated, “Some say that the United States has had its day in the sun; that our nation has passed its zenith. They expect you to tell your children that the American people no longer have the will to cope with their problems; that the future will be one of sacrifice and few opportunities. My fellow citizens, I utterly reject that view!”

     As Ronald Reagan took the oath of office, he adamantly stated, “I do not believe in a fate that will fall on us no matter what we do. I do believe in a fate that will fall on us if we do nothing.” Reagan attributed this core belief to his mother, saying, “From my mother I learned the value of prayer. My mother taught me that everything happened for a purpose.” Because of this core belief, Reagan could sincerely say, We are never defeated unless we give up on God!

     It was this faith that caused Ronald Reagan to place his hand upon II Chronicles 7:14. It is this example of faith that all believing Americans must again take heart and embrace. This is what Prayer Force One is all about. This is what this Leadership Training Course is all about. The truth is that America can still be saved if we don’t mind God getting the credit!

“Never Underestimate The Power Of A Praying Remnant!

     In the face of so many inroads and lost ground to the enemies of our country, many Christians have become discouraged or cynical while others have simply lost hope. However, we must remind ourselves that no one ever won a contest by throwing in the towel, nor has any army won a battle by surrendering to the enemy.

     On the contrary, we must remember that these are spiritual battles which must be fought with spiritual weapons, “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds.” (II Corinthians 10:4) In order to win the battle for the soul of our nation, we must use these spiritual weapons; the chief of which is PRAYER! Remember, the verse Ronald Reagan placed his hand on when he took the oath of office was all about prayer!

     During the 2009 National Day of Prayer observance in Washington DC, the honorary chair was well-known Bible teacher, Beth Moore. In a rousing keynote address at our nation’s capital, Beth made the following statement: Never underestimate the power of a praying remnant!That statement has remained with me to this day. At Prayer Force One, we are working to build, to unite, and to encourage America’s praying remnant. Thank you getting into the arena and doing your part.

     As I close, allow me to quote from a speech by President Theodore Roosevelt entitled “Citizenship In A Republic.” In this speech, Roosevelt commends those who step into the arena and do battle for the soul of a nation. He said:

     “It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs, who comes short again and again, because there is no effort without error and shortcoming; but who does actually strive to do the deeds; who knows great enthusiasms, the great devotions; who spends himself in a worthy cause; who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement, and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat.”
